Storyboards

We have been looking at storyboards in the Silent Movie brief to start visualising our ideas before we put them onto After Effects. I have looked into already existing storyboards and seen how different people approach it. In this storyboard its drawn in vertical collum showing the story one frame below another, they also don't stick to the restrictions of the frame, they show how things move in and out of the frame and different perspectives.

This storyboard is from The Simpsons, this is like the storyboards that we have been doing for our animations, it shows the key frames of the scene so the animators know what is going to happen without having to draw out every single movement of the animations.

This is a really simple storyboard, showing you don't need to draw all the deatils in, also long as its clear what is going on it's alright to write annotations along side the frames.

This is a much more indepth storyboard, but it still has annotations under each frame, it also has arrows to show direction of movement within the animation.

We have to use black, white and one other colour in our animations so I have found a storyboarder who uses colour, it is good to use colour in the storyboarding stage so when you come to putting it into after effects all these decisions have already been made so it will save time.

Monsters Inc

I really love Pixar animation and I think the opening to Monsters Inc is releative to look at for this brief, it is done very simply but is still very effective, also for their target market of younger children the bright colours and movements would appeal to them.
I think its the simplicity that works well in these opening credits and it is definitly something I can take inspiration from for the Silent Movie brief.

Desperate Housewives

The Desperate Housewives opening sequence is a good animation to look at for this brief as it was made on After Effects which is the sofware we are using to create our animation. It is good to see how the software can be used to create different effects and movement throughout an animation. I can now also start to visualise more how I can used some of these techbiques in my animation to made my words come alive.

Channel 4 Idents

Channel 4 have established a strong ident using animorphic type to create the channel 4 logo, they have stuck to this idea over the years but developed it and found new and different ways of doing it each time, but it is always recognised.

BBC2 Idents 1991-2001

These are the BBC2 Idents used from 1991 to 2001, they all last under 10 seconds and they all keep and show the strong identity BBC2 has built up over the years. The old idents still remind people of the channel and bring back memories from the past whilst they still update and create new ones today.

Kinetic Type-25 Frames

These are 25 frames taken at equall intervals of 1.36 seconds throughout the 34 second video, I am now going to look at the same video again and take 25 screen grabs of the bits that I think show important changes.
