What is a Line?

“Agenda 2011″ by Swiss designer Julie Joliat.
This is a dot to dot book, it contains more than 50 connect-the-dot puzzles revealing famous art pieces, and other useful things like a wine chart.

What is a Line?

'This is a blog documenting a project that will span exactly one year, from January 1, 2010 to December 31, 2010. On each of those 365 days, I will photograph or draw (and occasionally paint) one collection. Most of the collections are real and exist in my home or studio; those I will photograph. Some are imagined; those I will draw or (occasionally) paint.'

I really like this blog, firstly I love collecting things myself and I love looking at what other people have collected and secondly  I think this is relevant to my brief for the first week of the 'What is a Line? project. I am looking at objects that are besides/behind each other, I am going to try something like this myself but I am going to illustrate my collections in my sketchbook.

Connected Marketing-The Viral, Buzz and Word of Mouth Revolution

Communication is a Virus-Flash Mob

T-Mobile Ad, our inspiration for Communication is a Virus

Wikipedia definition for "Flash Mob"
A flash mob (or flashmob)[1] is a term coined in 2003 to denote a group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and sometimes seemingly pointless act for a brief time, then disperse, often for the purposes of entertainment and/or satire.[2][3] Flash mobs are organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails.[4][5][6][7][8][9] The term is generally not applied to events and performances organized for the purposes of politics (such as protests), commercial advertisement, publicity stunts, that involve public relation firms, or paid professionals.[6][10][11]

'Improv Everywhere is a New York City-based prank collective that causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Created in August of 2001 by Charlie Todd, Improv Everywhere has executed over 100 missions involving tens of thousands of undercover agents.'

Adam Hayes

Adam Hayes does a range of hand rendered typography, some of it simple and some of it a lot more detailed. The 'Kilburn Social Club' poster is along the lines of what I want to produce to show simple verses ornate.

Disco

A flyer I picked up today with a nice range of hand crafted typography on it.

Opposites

A vert useful website for this brief, type in any word and it tells you the opposite.

When I typed in my opposites this is what came up:
Ornate- Simple, Plain
Simple- Complex, Complicated, Convoluted, Difficult, Exacting, Intricate, Unclear, Unintelligible
