Illustrations for the Global Economics calendar by designer Maayan Pearl, I think that adding the illustrations onto the callender makes this piece of design stand out for me. Callenders can often be very boring, assosicated with being organised and serious, but here graphic design has been used to make this callender more fun and exciting.

I saw this in a book I was reading and thought it was a really clever piece of design, aswell as being a clever piece of design its also useful, a way to remember all the typefaces.

A yummy piece of illustration here by Ana Benaroya her design is always bright, eye catching and even a bit crazy, but design shoul be out there, that is what graphic design is there for, to be seen and to communicate to the public.

This is a really lovely bit of design by Lisa Hedge , my favourite is the image and text poster, its really nicely done and looks elegant, maybe not a word you would normally use to describe graphic design but I think it is.

This is the identity & art direction for Prism magazine by designer Sam Chirnside I really like a lot of work this designer does, in this piece I feel that the design has been considered throughout the magazine. The logo fits with the layout all works together and looks really clean cut and crisp.

This book for M&Ms was designed by Mashburn Katz I found the brightly coloured front colours really intriguing, if I saw this around I would definitly want to look at it.

This is a typeface & identity for Ethel Vaughn, a fashion label based in Berlin designed by Sam Chirnside. When creating an identity using a an already existing typeface is often the case but I think designing a whole new typeface that is individual to your company makes you stand out more to your audience and makes you more appealing and interesting.

This is the packaging for Ikea Food by design company SDL, I like the simplicity of the design, the images are just block colours and symbols and the colours are kept the same throughout the packaging.

This book is also made by StudioMakgill it was a book made to accompany a exhibition, 'the book brought together a number of prominent American photographers whose work engages with the physical and psychological landscape of the American South.'
They write themselves on their website how the design of the books lends itself to the content, 'Our simple typographic cover gives a nod to the turn of the century shop signage that could be found in many of Walker Evans' images of the small towns of the deep south.'

What is Graphic Design For?

This is work by Studio Makgill, its a poster they designed for their third birthday. By the time it was their third birthday they had completed 50 projects, this poster shows all 50 of them, I think it is a well designed piece of work that uses manily images but has the numbers 3 and 50, which I think is it all really needs.

This is a visual identity for dutchtub designed by Sinds 1416, the shape of the product has been considered in the design of the logo and the consistency of identity is kept across all the designs, its even used on the tap of the prodcut itself, I enjoy this design a lot.

What is Graphic Design For?

This is some nice packaging design by Dry 'a creative agency specialising in graphic design, branding and art direction', I think packaging design is a very important park of graphic design, I feel I often see a lot of bad packaging design, the use of text and image had been considered here and I think the shop and audience have been considered carefully.
