Eye Charts

For this weeks brief we have to produce an eye chart f the object we have been given, I have bottles, I have looked at already existing eye charts, some conventional and some not so, this will help me decide on the layout for my eye chart.

More 4 Re-brand

More 4 have had a re-brand for 2012, this is their new logo/ident, its simple but works, everyone knows channels 4s identity so they just played on that. I am a fan.

BBC 2 Christmas Ident

This is a BBC2 ident from christmas time 2007, the main sequence is far more complex from what I could achieve on After Effects however the end scene is something I can take influence from, the artwork is layered, you can see the background through the cut out 2 icon which is what I am doing with my text and patterns.

Enter The Void

This is the title sequence of Enter The Void by Gaspard Noe, it it really impressive in my eyes, its simple flashing and use of typefaces but its just so effective.

How to Cook like Heston

I have taken screen shots from 'How to Cook like Heston' I like how the words appear around the objects, this is an aspect I wanted to look at in my title sequence, with the facts about the patterns appearing around the names of the patterns.

Lynne Perrella

On my crit feedback Will suggested I look at this artist, she does a lot with collage and layering as well as looking at lot at bright colour which fits in well with what I am doing.
http://www.lkperrella.com/

These are a few examples pf her work that i was drawn too, she even looks at patterns in some pieces, her work is a lot more complex than my ideas but she looks at layering and textures within her work which is something I am working with and devloping at the moment so I will take some inspiration from this work.

Image...Editorial Brief Research

Frank L. Sprayberry
Presidential Collage Series
These collages is the type of work I want to create for the Doctor article, combining found imagery with my own illustrations.
 http://aestheticapparatus.com/

These illustrations by Steve Harrington stood out to me, they are all illustrated but built up like a college, which is a way I'd like to work for this brief.

These heart illustrations are exactly the type of thing I want to create for the Relationship Maths article, looking at symbols, such as the heart by hand making and collage them.

Image...Type as Image

Adam Hayes does really lovely hand rendered type and type as image work, this is the type of stuff I want to produce for one of the images for one articles on our current brief.
AJ Purdy and Luke Ramsey collabortated on this piece of type as image, they work small illustrations into each letter which is what I want to do for 'Moral Satisfaction' article.

Sky Arts

I have been thinking about my target audience and I have decided I want to aim my programme at adults, in perticular designers. I think Sky Arts is the most approriate channel to air the show and I have looked at some of the other programmes that are shown on the channel that would probably fall in the same category as my programme on Patterns.

Dexter

Another Saul Bass inspired title sequece here for television show Dexter, also sitcky to the simplicity and the three main colours of red, white and black. Its not the orginal title sequnce for the programme but one that has been designed as an alternative, I think it works reall well.

Mad Men

This is the title sequence for the television programme Mad Men, you can see the influence of Saul Bass in the work and it keeps the simplicity and works with three main colours, red, white and black.

Top 10...Audience...Sky Arts

Another possible audience/channel my programme on patterns could be shown on is Sky Arts, they show programmes to do with all the arts and have a art and design category. Here are some of their idents.

This ident for Sky Arts uses a lot of shape and pattern in it which fits well with my subject and feel approriate for the research I have gathered.

Top 10...Audience...CBeebies

A possible audience to aim my pattern programme at might be children as a learning programme, I have been in the CBeebies website and they already have some exsisting material to do with patterns, learning and malking.
Here are some already exsisting CBeebies idents, the focus on shape and colour, appealing to the younger audience.

Cartoon Network

Here are some Cartoon Network Idents, they work really well, the are simple and work with the two letters C and N which are not recognised as being cartoon network, they are also good for children as they are cartoon networks main audience so they have made them appeal to them.

Top Ten Patterns...Kaledidoscopes

I have looked at videos of kalediscopes moving as when I start making my 'Top 10' anitmation I will need to took at how I can animate patterns and I thought this would be a good place to look to start.

Collide

I think this video could be looked at for drop and collide but it shows a droplet collision so I put it under the collide section. It is slowed down to 5000fps.

A simulation of what a meteorite collision might look like.

Drop

I wanted to look at how things dropped in real life so I could portray the movement of dropping right in my After Effects animations. Looking at the physics of how things move should help me move my text in my animations.
This video shows rain falling which I have used for inspiration already for this brief but its good to watch how it actualy drops and what happens after it drops on a surface.

This video is of a building being demolished, I think this is good to look at when looking at dropping as the pyhisics and movement of the dropping of the building is really interesting.

These are both videos of items being dropped from a height, they also show what happens to the items once they hit the floor which is something I am looking at in my animations, what happens to something once it has dropped.

Channel 4 -The Bank Job

I saw this advert on TV today for a new programme starting on channel 4, I thought it was really relevant to what we have been looking at in this module. The advert looks like it is made using similar software to After Effects that we have been using and it done simply but still narrates the scenario.
