Competition...Innocent Smoothie

Innocent Smoothie is probably Feel Good Drinks competition,
they have a real strong brand identity and are very popular with the public. We need to get Feel Good away from the Innocent
Smoothie idea and give them their own strong brand identity that will compete with innocent.

Feel Good Drinks...Spreading the Word

I have looked into all the ways that Feel Good Drinks promote themselves
and spread the word about what they do online, they have a blog,
Facebook page and Twitter as well as their website,

Their Facebook group has 4,683 followers and is updated regally, you
can also purchase their t-shirts on it.

Their blog on the other hand has not been updated since September 2011,
I think they either need to updated it or get rid of it, it doesn't look good not being
updated.

Their Twitter is also pretty popular with 3,009 followers and regular Tweets and
updates.

Feel Good Drinks Advertising

As well as digital adverts I also looked into Feel Good Drinks already existing promotional and advertising campaigns, how they spread the word about their products and what methods of delivery they use.

Feel Good Drinks Adverts

I have looked at some already existing adverts for Feel Good Drinks Company to see what
kind of feel and tone of voice they use, some of these have been previous competition
entry winners as well.

Noriko Okaku

Noriko Okaku makes really quirky moving image and animation,
this is his showreel from 2009, just highlighting some of the stuff he has done.
I really like he surreal feelings his work has and is something I would
want to look at in the future.

Fox Classics - Forever Classic ID

'FOX CLASSICS showcases classic films, and the ID series was designed to take viewers on a guessing game journey through the world of classic cinema. Each spot sticks to the channel brand with the aim of guiding the channel into a new phase of sophistication.'
These are lovely moving image videos, the designs are simple and clean and the movements from shot to short work really well, they are smooth and cleverly done.

Vinyl Sleeves

I have looked at some vinyl sleeves and documented the ones that
I think have relevance to what I want to do with my CD packing.

Panda Bear
The text on this sleeve has the same sort of cut out feel
I want to go for on my packaging, its clear and concise on the outside with illustrations on the inside.

Joy Division
With this sleeve I really like the material its made out of,
it gives it a more special edge, again very simple but made well.

The Maccabees
I've blogged these before so spoken about them already but here I got my hands on them and go to see how they are made and also what they look like when opened up.

The Beasties Boys
With this one I like how the inside record works with the sleeve, matching the orange circle on the inside with the one on the sleeve.

CD Sleeves...Layouts

I have looked at some of the CD I own, mainly the card/paper ones as they are more in keeping with what I will be making.
I have looked at the different ways they are made, where the CD is inserted, how they open etc, to get some inspiration for my own CD cover.

Album Sleeves... The XX

The XX have a strong identity, their album cover was a simple white X on
a white background, it is strong and recognisable.
They took this imagery and for each of their singles
changed it each time,

They changed the background of the cross for each of their singles,
this is an idea I want to take into my own work,
I am going to work with cut outs and background imagery,
it is possible that I make 10 different inner sleeves, each one with a different pattern.

Album Sleeves

As we have to design a CD sleeve for our disks for submission I had a look at already
existing ones which were inline with the idea I want to go with for mine.

The Maccabees singles sleeves look at cut out text with a patterned/textured background.
This is something I looked at in my animations and is an idea I thought I could carry through into
my CD case.

I have also looked at Merriweather Post Pavilion by Animal Collective, there album cover is an entire patterns which incases the CD, its also an optical illusion, seeming to move as you look at it.

Thank You For Smoking Title Sequence

This is a title sequence for the film Thank you for Smoking, it is made up of the credits
all written on vintage cigarette packaging, and the song is relevant to the imagery.

Sweeny Todd Opening Credits

This is a great opening to a film, it shows the feel of the film,
it keeps that sense of suspense and horror right from the start.
It also looks like part it of it was made using After Effects.

Superbad Title Sequence

Opening credits to Superbad, so simple yet works so well, it all comes together,
the music, graphics, colours all work as one and set a tone and feel for the
movie, and very entertaining.
